Beethoven in the schools

The Bellingham Festival of Music brings classical music to life for local third-grade students through engaging classroom visits from “Mr. Beethoven.” Portrayed in full period costume by Grant Donnellan—Professor of Music at Western Washington University and violinist in the Festival Orchestra—Mr. Beethoven uses his violin to introduce young students to classical masterworks and musical history. After returning to local classrooms in 2022, this beloved educational outreach program continues to inspire young listeners across Whatcom County each spring.
