Free Concerts in the Community
As part of its community outreach efforts, the Bellingham Festival of Music has always offered free musical events around Bellingham during the course of the summer festival. They are open to everyone at no charge.
The chamber concert at Whatcom Museum will feature a special presentation of Stravinsky’s iconic L’histoire du soldat (“A Soldier’s Tale”), performed by seven fabulous Bellingham orchestra players, narrated by Mitchell Kahn (PNO Artistic and General Director), and directed by Nathan Fryml (BFM Assistant Conductor). Other highlights will include several charming works for violin performed by BFM Concertmaster, Richard Roberts; an energetic excerpt from Patrick Harlin’s bassoon sonata performed by Robert Williams, and a sneak-preview of what’s in store for later in the weekend with a guest appearance by tenor soloist Eric Barry. You will want to come early to find a seat at what is sure to be a standing-room-only event!
