Play it Forward
Play It Forward, now in its 7th year, is a collaboration between the Bellingham Festival of Music and the Whatcom Symphony to help create music awareness among middle and high school students. Each year a group of young performers from the Colburn School of Music visit Bellingham for a week-long residency, during which time they visit area schools to perform for local students and to spark their interest in classical music. The residency closes with a full recital by the visiting group in collaboration with local students.
Colburn Beat! is the 2018 Play it Forward Chamber Music Resident Ensemble
This gifted and charismatic Percussion Trio is comprised of Colburn Conservat[ory percussion students Jimmy Chan, Pat Chapman, and Greg LaRosa. Individually, the three have taught and performed across the world, from India to Vienna and New York to Hong Kong. These experiences have allowed them to explore the world’s cultural diversity through music. Their performances offer a tantalizing glimpse of the rhythms, timbres, and styles they have absorbed in their travels.
They will work with students during the week of March 12, culminating in a public concert, where they will be joined by local percussion students.
