We are delighted to announce new partnerships with Hampton Inn, Oxford Suites, and the Fairhaven Village Inn. Their offers include discounted rates on a well-appointed room, discounted tickets for guests, plus some customized perks special to each hotel. Check our website for details.

2016 Festival Tickets Selling Briskly

  • As of last week, only a few seats remain for our Cruise Terminal Chamber Music-by-the-Bay on July 10 featuring Principals of the Festival Orchestra. The delicious program includes music of Schubert, Bartok, Bruch, and Saint-Saens. And, of course, it’s followed by a reception of scrumptious hors d’oeuvres. Don’t miss out.

As for our other concerts, we are anticipating a sellout year and tickets sales are ahead of last year for:

    • Friday, July 1 featuring cellist Lynn Harrell playing Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A Minor.
    • Tuesday, July 5 with Violinist Cho-Liang Lin performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto #4 in D Major.
    • Thursday, July 7 the Award-winning, Carnegie Hall-debuting Calidore String Quartet performs works by Mendelssohn, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky. Following on Saturday July 9, the Calidore performs a work dance-flavored work for string quartet and orchestra by Juan Ramírez.

Also not to be missed are:

    • Wednesday July 13 featuring the Bellingham debut of brilliant young pianist Kuok-Wai Lio performing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto #1 in G Minor, plus soprano Ilana Davidson performing in Mahler’s Symphony #4 in G Major.

On July 17, the season closes with two of the most profound and deeply loved works of Mozart: the Piano Concerto #24 in C Minor with pianist Peter Serkin and the Requiem Mass featuring the Bellingham Festival Chorus and four outstanding soloists. Artistic Director Michael Palmer conducts.

The Festival of Music Annual Dinner and Auction delighted 160 guests gathered at Settlemyer Hall on April 30th. Attendees strolled the streets of Paris to bid on 100 items generously donated by local businesses to raise funds for our summer concert series and educational outreach to students in Whatcom County. Accordion player Terhi Miikki-Broersma and vocalist Sherrie Kahn entertained during dinner, and auctioneer Kent Loomer and emcee Maddy Newman orchestrated the bidding on live auction items consisting of exceptional experiences, international trips, art, theater packages, boat trips, and more. With the generous support of our attendees, sponsors, and donors, we were able to raise over $111,000!

A special thank you to this year’s sponsors: Fat Pie Pizza, SSC, IMCO Construction, Patti Imhof, Anonymous, Phillips 66 Ferndale Refinery, Marti Caputi, Jim and Judy Woods, Jack and Mary Beth Campbell.
